About Gyrn Moelfre
Gyrn Moelfre is a mountain in Powys, mid Wales, near the border with Shropshire. It stands south-east of the Berwyns, separated from them by the Afon Ysgwennant, and the village of Llansilin lies on its south-western slopes. Historically part of Denbighshire, it passed to Clwyd in the local-government reform of 1974 and then to Powys in 1996.
The mountain was the filming location for The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain, standing in for 'Ffynnon Garw' in Gwynedd, and in the modern era it has hosted rounds of the British Downhill Series along with some smaller events on the downhill calendar.

Finding the summit
flush bracket is 30cm from base of trig point; ground 3m SE is higher but is part of a decayed wall.
The recorded summit point is ground within 1m of trig point. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
