About Glas Maol
Glas Maol, in Gaelic A' Ghlas-Mheall, is a broad, flat-topped hill of the Mounth in the south-eastern Highlands. Its summit plateau is shared between three council areas, Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perth and Kinross, but the highest ground lies entirely in Angus, making it that area's high point.
The western flanks carry part of the Glenshee Ski Centre. Walkers commonly start from the Cairnwell pass on the A93, the highest public road in Scotland, which leaves only around 400 m of ascent. Glas Maol is frequently linked with Creag Leacach to the south or Cairn of Claise to the north; the broad connecting ridge is followed by a dry-stone dyke that runs close to the Angus boundary.
