About Cleeve Hill
Cleeve Hill, sometimes called Cleeve Cloud, is the highest ground in both the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire at 330 m. It forms a conspicuous outcrop on the limestone escarpment known as the Cotswold Edge, and the Cotswold Way runs across it.
The summit lies on Cleeve Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest looked after by the Cleeve Common Trust, formerly the Board of Conservators. The view west is open over Cheltenham and its racecourse, across the Severn and into Wales, with Winchcombe below to the north. Because the southern slopes drain to the River Coln, the hill is the highest point anywhere in the Thames catchment.
