About Arenig Fach
Arenig Fach is a peak of the Arenig range in southern Snowdonia, north of its parent Arenig Fawr and close to Llyn Celyn beside the A4212 between Trawsfynydd and Bala. Carnedd y Filiast and Foel Goch lie east; Moel Llyfnant, Gallt y Daren and Arenig Fawr are to the south.
Rising out of the Migneint moorland, it reads as a bulky heathery lump from most angles, but the north-eastern face is quite different: steep cliffs above a small corrie lake, Llyn Arenig Fach. The summit, at the north end of a wide plateau, is called Carnedd Bachgen after the ancient cairn Carnedd y Bachgen just to its north-east, and carries a trig point and a substantial shelter cairn.
