About Aonach Eagach - Meall Dearg

Meall Dearg, at 952 m, is the eastern of the two Munros on the Aonach Eagach, the notched ridge that forms the northern edge of Glen Coe. The other is Sgùrr nam Fiannaidh at 967 m, and the ridge as a whole runs east to west for several miles.

The traverse between the summits is very rocky and calls for scrambling ability. The flanks on either side are hazardous: steep grass and scree that conceal steeper ground below, ending in cliffs on both the north and south sides.
