About An Sgarsoch
An Sgarsoch is a Grampian hill of rounded, unemphatic form, and what defines it is not shape but position. It stands north of Blair Atholl on the Aberdeenshire–Perthshire boundary, in the ground between the Cairngorms and the Mounth, a long way from any village or town.
That remoteness governs how it is reached: the usual approach comes in from the upper River Dee. Walkers looking for crags and ridges will find little here, but those collecting Munros in the emptier corners of the Highlands will recognise it as one of the more committing days.
