About Stob Coire Sgreamhach

The name Stob Coire Sgreamhach translates as 'peak of the dreadful corrie', and the hill sits in Lorn, on the southern side of Glen Coe. It is part of the Bidean nam Bian massif and was long treated as a subsidiary top of Bidean; the 1997 revision of Munro's Tables gave it separate Munro status, and the two are still commonly traversed together.

Northeast of the summit runs the ridge of Beinn Fhada, 'the long mountain', the most easterly of the Three Sisters of Glen Coe. On the Glen Coe side lies Coire Gabhail, the Hidden Glen or Lost Valley, whose broad floor is invisible from the glen below and which the local Clan MacDonald used for concealing cattle, their own and stolen alike.
