About Sgurr na Coinnich
Sgùrr na Coinnich is the highest peak on the Sleat peninsula at the eastern end of Skye. With its slightly lower neighbour Beinn na Caillich it looks down on the Skye Bridge between Kyle of Lochalsh and Kyleakin.
Maps suggest starting from Bealach Uday at 278 m, the high point of the minor road from Broadford to Kylerhea and under 2 km from the top, but the ground immediately north is rough, deep in heather and broken by a series of small steep ridges and bogs lying across the line of travel. A longer alternative begins at Kylerhea and can take in Beinn na Caillich. Higher up the terrain smooths out and the vegetation shortens.
