About Sgurr Alasdair

Sgùrr Alasdair is the high point of the Black Cuillin and the highest summit on Skye, in the Inner Hebrides and across all the Scottish islands. Like the rest of the range it is built of gabbro, a rock that gives excellent grip.

The mountain was known locally as Sgurr Biorach before it was renamed for Alexander Nicolson, who made the first recorded ascent in 1873.
