About Schiehallion
Schiehallion is a cone-shaped hill in Breadalbane, in the old county of Perthshire, near the centre of mainland Scotland. Its outline is one of the more recognisable in the southern Highlands.
The mountain carries a rich flora together with folklore and archaeology, and holds an unusual place in the history of science as the site of an 18th-century experiment to weigh the Earth. Its popularity wore out the footpath badly enough that extensive repairs were carried out in 2001.
