About Meall Garbh

Meall Garbh rises on the north side of Glen Lyon. Its summit is flat and carries two tops of near-identical height, the northwestern reckoned the higher of the pair.

It is usually walked as part of the circuit around the watershed of the Invervar burn, a 14-kilometre round taking in four Munros. Going clockwise it comes second, after Carn Gorm and before Carn Mairg and Meall nan Aighean. Its summit cairn is an oddity, built from old iron stake posts rather than stones.

The recorded summit point is boulder 18m SE of large cairn. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
