About Lochnagar - Cac Carn Beag

Lochnagar, also known as Beinn Chìochan, stands in the Mounth in the Grampians, about eight kilometres south of the River Dee near Balmoral. The name comes from Lochan na Gaire, the lochan at the foot of the mountain. It draws plenty of hillwalkers and has a reputation as a climbing venue in both summer and winter.

Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
