About Great Wood
Great Wood Hill at Depden is the highest ground in Suffolk, and the highest part of the Newmarket Ridge. Nothing to the east of the River Cam rises above it across a wide swathe of country, which gives the hill its significance rather than any great elevation — the summit is under 130 m.
