About Dun Rig

Dun Rig is the highest hill in the northernmost group of the Manor Hills, a Southern Uplands range south of Peebles. The summit itself is sprawling rather than sharp.

It is most often walked as part of the Dun Rig Horseshoe from the Peebles side, with views out to the Moorfoot Hills, the Pentlands, the remainder of the Manor Hills and the central Borders. It also serves as the historic county top of the old county of Selkirkshire.

The recorded summit point is grassy mound 65m SW of trig point. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
