About Creag Dhubh
Creag Dhubh, or A' Chreag Dhubh, is Gaelic for 'the black crag'. It rises in the Grampians above and west of Newtonmore in Strathspey, set between Glen Banchor and the River Calder on the north and the Spey valley to the south and south-west.
Its height is modest but the hill is often regarded as a true mountain, with a wide summit view taking in Strathspey, the Corrieyairack and Creag Meagaidh. The slopes are steep and craggy and the ridgeline complex, making the ground awkward to move across.
