About Craig Llyn Du
Craig Llyn Du, also listed as Rhinog Fawr North Top, is a 553-metre subsidiary summit of Rhinog Fawr in the Rhinogydd range of Eryri (Snowdonia), North Wales. Its parent mountain is the third-highest summit of the Rhinogydd, after Y Llethr and Diffwys; Rhinog Fawr's neighbours are Rhinog Fach to the south, beyond the pass of Bwlch Drws Ardudwy, and Moel Ysgyfarnogod to the north.
Beneath Rhinog Fawr's summit, set among crags at about 510 metres, lies the small tarn of Llyn Du. As across much of the range, the ground here is hard sedimentary rock blanketed in heather, terrain that makes progress on foot difficult.

Finding the summit
this W top is higher than that 65m ESE at SH 65613 29547.
The recorded summit point is rock. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.

Which hill this one belongs to
Craig Llyn Du is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Rhinog Fawr (720 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 516 m.
Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
