Bruach na Frìthe is one of the main summits of the Black Cuillin ridge on Skye. Like the rest of the range it is built of gabbro, a rough rock that grips well underfoot.

It is hard to pick out from Sligachan, the popular viewpoint: the right-hand peak often taken for it is actually the lower Sgurr a' Bhasteir. Of the principal Cuillin peaks this is the most frequently ascended and the one that asks least in the way of scrambling, though every line of approach crosses steep ground and scree. The usual route goes by Fionn Coire, with the slightly harder Northwest Ridge a common alternative.

The summit is among the finest viewpoints on the ridge, and although it is not the highest peak in the Cuillin it is the only one carrying an Ordnance Survey pillar.

The recorded summit point is rock 4m S of trig point. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.

Bruach na Frithe is not counted as an independent hill in its own right. In prominence terms it belongs to Sgurr nan Gillean (966 m) — the nearest Marilyn you can reach from this summit without first dropping below its key col, 833 m.

Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
