About Blackhope Scar
Second only to Windlestraw Law among the Moorfoot Hills, Blackhope Scar lies north-east of Peebles in the Southern Uplands. It is rough, boggy moorland ground, and the usual approach is from Gladhouse Reservoir. The summit repays the walk with a wide outlook. Its list credentials include Graham, Donald and Marilyn, along with county top status.

The Blackhope Scar group
3 other listed summits sit in the same prominence group, with Blackhope Scar as the independent hill at its head.
| Summit | Height | Drop |
|---|---|---|
| Bowbeat Hill | 626 m | 78 m |
| Whitehope Law | 623 m | 66 m |
| Dundreich | 623 m | 68 m |
Grouping is by prominence alone: a summit belongs to the nearest higher Marilyn it connects to without a deeper intervening col. Over a large massif that can gather hills no one would walk in a single day, and which few would describe as parts of the same mountain — it is a measure of independence, not a suggested route.
