About Ben More
Ben More — Beinn Mhòr, 'the great mountain' — rises above Crianlarich in the Breadalbane country of the southern Highlands. It is the highest of the Crianlarich Hills south-east of the village and the highest point anywhere in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, separated from Stob Binnein (1,165 m) by the Bealach-eadar-dà-Bheinn, the 'col between two mountains'.
On the north side a long-lasting snow patch collects, unique among Southern Highlands patches in being named on the 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey map. It is the Cuidhe Chrom, 'crooked wreath', after the shape it takes in late spring and early summer; it often survives well into June and occasionally July. A similarly named summit, Cuidhe Cròm, appears near Lochnagar.
