About Beinn Spionnaidh
Beinn Spionnaidh, 773 metres, occupies the north-western tip of the Scottish Highlands in Sutherland, west of Loch Eriboll and north-east of Cranstackie and Foinaven — a position that makes it the most northerly mountain in Scotland and in Great Britain.
Like its neighbours, its top is a whaleback about a kilometre long running south-west to north-east and strewn with loose, broken quartzite. Cioch Mhor, a steep spur to the north-west, gives one line to the top along with views over the Kyle of Durness; the gentler south-eastern slope is tiring higher up because of the loose rock.
