About Beinn Mheadhoin
Beinn Mheadhoin, 'middle mountain', sits at the very centre of the Cairngorms and is among the most remote hills in the range, ringed by deep glens and mountain lochs including Loch A'an, Loch Etchachan and the Dubh Lochan. By some counts it is the twelfth-highest mountain in Great Britain.
Its top is broad and flat, and notable for the tors standing on it — large boulders left behind as the ice sheets withdrew at the close of the last glaciation. The true high point is the top of one of the biggest of these, and reaching it involves a scramble.
