About Beinn Eighe - Ruadh-stac Mor

Ruadh-stac Mor, at 1,010 metres, is the higher of the two Munro summits on Beinn Eighe; the other, Spidean Coire nan Clach, reaches 993 metres. The name Beinn Eighe means 'file mountain', and the massif lies south of Loch Maree in the Torridon area of Wester Ross.

The mountain forms a long ridge with many spurs and tops. Unlike most hills nearby it is capped with Cambrian basal quartzite, which gives its summits their pale colour. The complex topography attracts walkers and climbers alike, and the national nature reserve on the northern side opens the mountain to a wider range of visitors.
