Bidein a' Ghlas Thuill is the highest point of An Teallach, the mountain group in Wester Ross whose Gaelic name means 'the forge' or 'the anvil'. The group lies west of Dundonnell Forest, with Loch na Sealga to the south and Little Loch Broom to the north; the second Munro on the crest is Sgurr Fiona at 1,058 m.

An Teallach is built largely of Torridonian sandstone, and like the Torridon hills that give the rock its name it presents terraced flanks cut by steep gullies, with a sharp rocky crest at Sgurr Fiona. The steepest ground, Corrag Bhuidhe, drops towards Loch Toll an Lochain and includes the overhanging pinnacle known as Lord Berkeley's Seat.
