About Llanaber station
Llanaber is an unstaffed halt on the Cambrian Coast Railway, serving the village of Llanaber near Barmouth in Gwynedd. Passenger services run to Harlech, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Barmouth, Machynlleth and Shrewsbury, and most trains call only on request. The platform occupies a narrow ledge below the village, immediately above a rocky beach.
From 22 June 2020 trains did not call at the station, because the short platform meant social distancing between passengers and the guard could not be maintained when the train door was opened. The restrictions were lifted on 22 August 2021 and the station reopened. Recorded usage was 3,844 in the year from April 2024 to March 2025.

A hill 8 km away in a straight line can be a much longer day on the ground — and on rural lines the last train home leaves early and some stations are request stops with a handful of services a day. Check live times and facilities for Llanaber before you commit, plan the route on a proper map, and give the daylight planner your real finish time.
