Queensberry

About Queensberry

Queensberry is the most southerly hill of the Lowther Hills range in the Southern Uplands, standing in the parish of Kirkpatrick-Juxta and forming a landmark recognised across Dumfriesshire. Approaches are commonly made from Daer Reservoir to the north, or from the minor roads south and east.

The name is widespread as a placename in southern Scotland, and gave rise to the Duke of Queensberry and Marquess of Queensberry titles — and through them to the Queensberry Rules of boxing.
