About Creag Meagaidh
Five ridges radiate from the flat summit plateau of Creag Meagaidh, each pair separated by a deep corrie, giving the hill a more complicated shape than most in the Highlands. It stands on the north side of Glen Spean, in the Highland council area between Loch Lochy and Loch Laggan.
The mountain's reputation rests largely on Coire Ardair, the north-eastern corrie, whose surrounding cliffs are a well-known ice-climbing venue. The neighbouring summits of Stob Poite Coire Ardair and Carn Liath are sometimes grouped with it as the Creag Meagaidh range.
The massif sits within Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve, designated in 1986 and run by NatureScot. Its 3,940 hectares run from the shore of Loch Laggan up to the plateau itself.
