About Carn Chuinneag

Twin-summited Carn Chuinneag lies south of Strathcarron in Sutherland, in a quiet stretch of the Northwest Highlands that sees relatively few walkers. Ardgay is the nearest village.

At 839 metres it qualifies as a Corbett and a Marilyn, its distinct pair of tops giving it a recognisable outline in an otherwise little-frequented corner of Highland.

Finding the summit

Surveyor's note

higher than highest embedded rock in wind shelter.

The recorded summit point is embedded boulder 4m N of trig point. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
