About Beinn Udlaidh

Rising above Glen Orchy near Tyndrum, Beinn Udlaidh is a Grampian hill whose summit is a plateau rather than a peak. Its northern flank is cut into by corries, giving that side a rougher profile than the broad top suggests.

A quartzite dyke runs down the northern side, dropping from the summit ridge the whole way to Glen Orchy — an unusual line to pick out on the hillside. The hill sits in Argyll and Bute and carries Corbett and Marilyn status.

Finding the summit

Surveyor's note

outcrop 140m S at NN 28064 33126 is 0.3m lower.

The recorded summit point is cairns on outcrop. That distinction matters on broad or flat tops, where the obvious cairn is not always the true high point.
