About Beinn Mhanach

Beinn Mhanach means monks' mountain in Gaelic, and the hill is also known in anglicised form as Ben Vannoch. It stands east of Bridge of Orchy in Breadalbane, looking over Loch Lyon to the south and Gleann Cailliche to the north.

The mountain carries two rounded tops, the western one being Beinn a' Chuirn at 923 m. Its southern slopes are grassy, while the more remote northern side is craggier. From the A82 and the West Highland Line the hill is clearly visible some 8 km north-east up the Auch Gleann.
